분자생물학 분야에서는 스테로이드 및 이종생물감지핵수용체(SXR) 또는 핵수용체 서브패밀리 1, 그룹 I, 멤버 2(NR1I2)라고도 불리는 임신 X수용체(PXR)는 NR1I2([5][6][7]핵수용체 서브패밀리 1, 그룹 I, 그룹 I, 멤버 2)에 의해 인체 내에서 코드되는 단백질이다.
PXR은 이물질의 존재를 감지하고 그 반응으로 이러한 물질의 해독과 [8]체내 제거에 관여하는 단백질의 발현을 조절하는 주요 기능을 하는 핵 수용체이다.PXR은 핵수용체 슈퍼패밀리에 속하며, 그 구성원은 리간드 결합 도메인과 DNA 결합 도메인으로 특징지어지는 전사인자이다.PXR은 시토크롬 P450 유전자 CYP3A4의 전사조절기로 9-시스 레티노산 수용체 RXR과 헤테로다이머로서 CYP3A4 프로모터의 반응원소에 결합한다.덱사메타손과 리팜피신을 [7][9]포함한 CYP3A4를 유도하는 다양한 화합물에 의해 활성화된다.
