활성화된 T세포의 핵인자(NFAT)는 인터류킨2 유전자의 T세포 발현에 필요한 전사인자이다.NFAT는 항원 수용체 반응 요소 2로 알려진 인터류킨 2 유전자 증강제 중 배열에 결합한다.또한 NFAT는 RNA를 결합할 수 있으며 B형 간염 바이러스 중합효소의 캡슐화 및 단백질 프라이밍에 필수적인 성분이다.NFAT는 45kDa와 90kDa 단백질의 헤테로다이머이며, 그 중 작은 것이 이 유전자의 산물이다.암호화된 단백질은 90kDa 단백질에 강하게 결합하고 유전자 [5]발현을 강화하는 능력을 자극한다.
