캐세이퍼시픽은 이 동맹의 창립 멤버 중 한 명이다.

원월드는 1998년 9월 21일 영국 런던에서 열린 기자회견에서 창립 멤버인 아메리칸 항공, 브리티시 에어웨이즈, 캐나다 항공 인터내셔널, 캐세이 퍼시픽, 콴타스에 의해 공개되었다.Oneworld는 1999년 2월 1일 공식적으로 출범하여 운영되기 시작했다.제휴는 다음과 같은 서비스와 이점을 간략히 설명했습니다.

Finnair는 이 동맹의 설립 이후 원월드의 첫 신입사원이 되었다.

2005~2006년: 최초의 대규모 확장 드라이브

2000년대 중반 Oneworld는 역사상 가장 큰 규모의 확장을 경험했다.헝가리 국적항공사 말레브는 2005년 5월 정식 가입 권유의 전조로 2005년 [25]11월 MOU를 체결했다.2005년 10월 17일, 이 동맹은 회원 선출 로얄 요르단인으로 서명했다.이 항공사는 중동에서 온 최초의 항공사로 글로벌 항공 동맹 [26]가입 초대를 수락했다.

당시 아시아 최대 항공그룹이었던 일본항공은 2005년 [27]10월 25일 동맹 가입을 신청했다.JAL과 Oneworld는 2006년 2월 8일에 MOU를 교환하여 항공사를 정식으로 가입시키기 전에 취해야 할 나머지 조치의 틀을 정했다.2006년 6월 5일, JAL은 JAL 그룹의 멤버 5명과 JAL-Air, JALways, JAPAN Asia Air, JAPAN Transocean [28][29]Air 등 제휴 멤버로서 정식 가입 권유장을 받았다.

말레이시아 항공의 에어버스 A330편.

2010년 2월 23일 인도의 킹피셔 항공은 인도 규제 승인을 조건으로 Vijay Mallya 회장과 기존 회원 항공사의 최고 경영진과 함께 Oneworld에 가입하기 위한 첫 걸음을 내디뎠다.이 항공사는 인도 민간항공부로부터 동맹 가입을 승인받아 동맹의 글로벌 익스플로러 세계일주 요금 상품에 참여하기 시작했다.그러나, 2012년 2월 3일, 동맹 가입을 불과 1주일 앞두고, 킹피셔 항공의 입국이 보류되어 재무 [40]상태를 강화할 수 있게 되었다.킹피셔 항공은 2012년 10월 20일 운항을 중단하고 2013년 [41]2월에 운항을 중단했다.

2010년 7월 26일 당시 독일 제2의 항공사였던 에어 베를린은 원월드에 가입하라는[42] 요청을 받아들여 2012년 [43]3월 20일 동맹에 가입했다.

2011년 6월 6일 말레이시아 항공은 싱가포르에서 [44][45]열린 IATA World Air Transport Summit과 별도로 새로운 회원국으로 지정되었다.말레이시아 항공은 2013년 [46]2월 1일 원월드의 일부가 되었다.

2012–현재:두 번째 대폭적인 확장

2014년 카타르 항공의 보잉 777-300ER 기종으로 페르시아 만의 "빅 3" 항공사 중 처음으로 글로벌 항공 동맹에 서명했습니다.

2012년 6월 11일, 스리랑칸 항공은 베이징에서 열린 IATA 세계항공수송정상회의와 별도로 원월드의 최신회원 당선자가 되었다.Cathay Pacific은 제휴 이행 프로그램을 [47]통해 SriLankan Airlines를 스폰서로 제공하고 있습니다.회원제 도입은 18개월 정도 걸릴 것으로 예상됐다.2014년 5월 1일, SriLankan Airlines는 동맹의 정회원이 되었으며, 인도 아대륙에서 동맹에 가입한 최초의 항공사가 되었다.

2013년 3월 7일, LATAM 항공 그룹은 원월드를 동맹으로 선택하였고 LAN 자회사인 콜롬비아 랜과 TAM 항공과 그 자회사인 TAM 파라과이가 원월드에 [51]합류할 것이라고 발표했다.LAN 콜롬비아는 2013년 10월 1일 동맹에 가입했다.

2014년 3월 31일, TAM 항공과 US 항공은 2014년 [52]3월 30일 스타 얼라이언스를 탈퇴한 후 원월드에 합류했다.

2017년 8월 15일 에어 베를린은 아부다비에 본사를 둔 에티하드 항공이 에어 베를린에 대한 자금 지원을 중단하자 파산 신청을 했다.에어 베를린은 이후 2017년 10월 28일 행정부에 들어가 운항을 중단하면서 원월드를 떠났다.

2018년 6월 1일, Oneworld는 스타 얼라이언스의 "커넥팅 파트너"와 유사한 멤버십 플랫폼인 Oneworld Connect를 피지 항공과 함께 [53][54][55]12월 5일부터 첫 번째 멤버로 선보였다.

2018년 12월 5일, 원월드는 로열 에어 마록의 회원 선출을 발표하였고, 2020년 4월 1일 항공 동맹에 가입하여 동맹의 네트워크를 [56][57]아프리카로 확장하였다.

2019년 9월 26일, 스카이팀 멤버인 델타 항공은 LATAM의 지분 20%를 19억 달러에 인수할 계획을 발표했다.이 인수로 2020년 5월 1일 LATAM 항공 그룹이 사실상 Oneworld에서 퇴출되었지만 카타르 항공의 LATAM 지분 10%의 운명은 현재 [58][59][60]발표되지 않았다.

2022년 6월 20일 오만항공과 원월드는 도하에서 열린 IATA 총회에서 오만항공이 동맹에 가입하는 MOU를 체결했다.카타르 항공이 [62]스폰서 역할을 할 것이다.

자회사 및 프랜차이즈

원월드는 정회원 항공사 외에도 30여 명의 "계열사" 회원을 보유하고 있다.이들은 일반적으로 동맹의 정회원국이 소유하거나 강력한 상업적 연계를 맺고 있는 지역 항공사들이다.고객의 경우 제휴가 제공할 수 있는 네트워크를 더욱 확장합니다.거버넌스 측면에서 이들 계열사는 "부모" 항공사에 의해 Oneworld 문제에 대표됩니다.

에어리베르테는 영국항공에 의해 프랑스 투자그룹인 Taitbough에 매각되면서 원월드의 계열사가 아니게 됐다.영국 항공사는 이 사업에 [63]대한 투자에 대해 충분한 수익을 얻을 수 없었다고 설명했다.케냐에 본사를 둔 지역항공은 2001년 7월 1일 영국항공과의 프랜차이즈 [64]계약에 따라 동맹에 가입했다.브리티시 에어웨이는 2005년 4월 중순 아프리카 항공사가 운항을 중단하면서 리저널 [65]에어와의 프랜차이즈 계약을 해지했다.트랜스 월드 익스프레스 브랜드로 운영되던 TWA의 지역 항공사들은 2001년 12월 2일 TWA가 아메리칸 항공에 인수됨에 따라 원월드 계열사가 되었다.당시 American Connection 브랜드로 운영되는 항공사는 다음과 같습니다.샤우토콰 항공, 코퍼레이트 항공, 트랜스 스테이트 [66]항공.
