역사

설립 및 방위 노력

1926년 시카고 시립 공항이 문을 연 직후, 시카고 시는 더 많은 공항 수용 능력이 필요하다는 것을 깨달았습니다. 시 정부는 1930년대에 다양한 장소들을 조사했지만, 미국의 제2차 세계대전 전에는 거의 진전이 없었습니다.[10]

초기 상업적 개발

OMP에는 4개의 새로운 활주로 건설, 2개의 기존 활주로 연장, 3개의 오래된 활주로를 해체하여 오헤어에 6개의 평행 활주로와 2개의 횡풍 활주로를 제공하는 것이 포함되었습니다.[45]

터미널

오헤어에는 9개의 문자로 된 콘서트장과 총 213개의 게이트가 있는 4개의 번호가 매겨진 여객 터미널이 있습니다.[57]

활주로

호텔

힐튼 시카고 오헤어(Hilton Chicago O'Hare)는 터미널 코어와 주차장 사이에 있으며 현재 공항 부지에 있는 유일한 호텔입니다. 시카고 항공국이 소유하고 있으며 2018년 시와 계약을 10년 연장한 힐튼 호텔과의 계약에 따라 운영되고 있습니다.[66]

지상운송

O'Hare는 Mannheim Road(미국 12, 45번), Tri-State Tollway(294번 고속도로) 및 90번 고속도로와 인터체인지를 제공하는 190번 고속도로가 직접 운행합니다. I-90은 케네디 고속도로를 따라 시카고 시내로 진입하여 북서쪽으로 록포드와 위스콘신 주 노선으로 이어지는 제인 애덤스 메모리얼 톨웨이가 됩니다.

화물시설

현재 오헤어에는 두 개의 주요 화물 구역이 있습니다. 남부 화물 구역은 1980년대에 터미널 코어 동쪽에 위치한 공항 최초의 항공 화물 시설에서 이전되었으며, 현재는 터미널 5가 서 있습니다. 이 새로운 화물 구역의 많은 구조물들은 OMP와 구체적으로 10R/28L 활주로를 허용하기 위해 다시 재건되어야 했습니다. 그 결과 현재 South Cargo Area라고 불리는 것은 10R/28L와 10C/28C 사이에 위치하고 있습니다. 세 구역(남서, 남중부, 동남부)의 이 대규모 시설 집합체는 주로 전통적인 항공사 기반의 항공 화물에 의해 설립되었습니다. NEC(North Kargo Area)는 공항 부지의 북동쪽 모서리에 있는 이전 군사 기지(더글러스 공장 지역)를 개조한 것입니다. 오헤어의 화물 용량을 50%까지 늘릴 수 있도록 설계된 신규 설비입니다. 현재 선관위를 구성하고 있는 두 개의 건물은 2016년에 완공된 540,000평방피트([75]50,000m2)의 건물과 2017년에 완공된 240,000평방피트(22,000m2)의 건물입니다.[76] 세 번째 구조물은 15만 평방 피트(14,000m2)의 창고 공간으로 선관위를 완성할 것입니다.[77]

화물 구역의 현재 기능은 200만 평방 피트(190,000m2)의 에어사이드 화물 공간을 제공하며, 40대의 와이드 바디 화물기를 주차할 수 있는 주차 공간과 200만 평방 피트(190,000m2) 이상의 랜드사이드 입고 능력을 갖추고 있습니다. 오헤어는 2018년에 1,700,000톤(1900,000,000 숏톤) 이상을 선적하여 미국 공항 중 5위를 차지했습니다.[78]

기타시설

2011년, 오헤어는 이곳에 양봉장을 건설한 첫 번째 주요 공항이 되었고, 매년 여름, 무려 75개의 벌집과 백만 마리의 벌들을 수용합니다. 벌들은 30~40명의 전과자들에 의해 근무 경험이 거의 없거나 시장성 있는 기술이 거의 없는 상태에서 유지되고 있습니다; 그들은 주로 시카고의 노스 론데일 지역에서 모집됩니다. 그들은 양봉 교육을 받지만 꿀벌의 노동력을 이용하여 병에 든 신선한 꿀, 비누, 립밤, 양초 및 꿀벌 사랑 제품군 아래에 판매되는 보습제로 바꿉니다.[79][80] 제조업, 식품가공업, 고객서비스업, 접객업 등의 직종으로 전환하여 500명 이상이 프로그램을 이수하였으며, 재범률은 10%[81] 미만인 것으로 보고되고 있습니다.

CDA의 공항 비행장 운영 부문은 150피트 높이의 원형 타워 건축가 I.M.을 기반으로 합니다. 페이는 1960-1970년대 FAA를 위해 설계되었습니다.
