이 유전자가 인코딩한 단백질은 인터루킨1 수용체군에 속하는 사이토카인 수용체다.이 수용체는 인터루킨 18(IL18)을 구체적으로 결합하며, IL18 매개 신호 전달에 필수적이다.IFN-알파, IL12는 NK와 T세포에서 이 수용체의 발현을 유도하는 것으로 보고되었다.이 유전자는 IL1R2, IL1R1, ILRL2(IL-1Rrp2), IL1RL1(T1/ST2) 등 인터루킨1 수용체 계열의 다른 4개 구성원과 함께 2q 염색체에 유전자 군집을 형성한다.[5]
