자연 킬러(NK) 세포는 세포독성 활동을 중재하고 면역 자극에 따라 사이토카인을 분비하는 림프구의 뚜렷한 혈통이다.NKG2 계열의 멤버를 포함한 C형 렉틴 슈퍼 패밀리의 여러 유전자가 NK 세포에 의해 발현되어 NK 세포 기능의 규제에 관여할 수 있다.KLRD1(CD94)은 NK세포에 우선적으로 발현되는 항원으로 외부 C단말기를 가지고 있어 제2종 막단백질로 분류된다.KLRD1에는 exon 2 시퀀스의 유무에 차이가 있는 2개의 대안으로 분할된 변형이 있다.[5]
