5-카르박스아미도트립타민(5-CT)은 신경전달물질 세로토닌과 밀접한 관련이 있는 트립타민 유도체다.

5-CT는 친화력이 낮은 5-HT1A2, 5-HT1B, 5-HT1D, 5-HT5A, 5-HT7 수용체뿐만 아니라 5-HT36 수용체에서도 비선택성, 고선호완전 작용제로 작용한다.[1][2][3] 5-HT1E 수용체와 5-HT1F 수용체에 대해 무시할 수 있는 친화력을 가지고 있다.[4] 5-CT는 5-HT1A 수용체에 가장 강하게 결합하며, 한때는 이 현장에 선택적이라고 생각되었다.[5][6] 최근 5-CT, AH-494의 근접한 파생상품은 5-HT1A보다 선택적이긴 하지만 5-HT7의 작용제로 기능하는 것으로 나타났다.[7]
