아일랜드와 영연방
아일랜드는 1922년부터 1949년까지 영연방의 회원국으로, 1922년부터 1937년까지 아일랜드 자유국으로 불렸으며, 아일랜드가 새로운 헌법을 채택하고 주 이름을 "아일랜드"로 변경했다.1936년 국왕이 헌법에서 제거되었지만 공화국은 1949년 4월 18일부터 공식적으로 선포되었다.당시 회원제 규정상 공화국은 영연방의 회원국이 될 수 없었다.이것은 일주일 후 런던 선언의 채택으로 바뀌었다.
