G 단백질 결합 수용체 50은 인간 에게 GPR50 유전자 에 의해 암호화된 단백질 이다.[5] [6] [7]
함수 GPR50은 G단백질 결합 수용체 계열의 일체막 단백질 로 멜라토닌 수용체 와 가장 밀접한 관련이 있다.[6] GPR50은 MT 와1 MT2 멜라토닌 수용체 하위 유형으로 이질화 할 수 있다. GPR50은 MT2 기능에 영향이 없는 반면, GPR50은 MT가1 멜라토닌 결합과 G단백질 결합을 모두 막았다.[8] GPR50은 멜라토닌 수용체 멜1c의 포유류 맞춤법이다. [9]
임상적 유의성 여성에서 GPR50 유전자의 특정 다형성 은 양극성 정서 장애 , 주요 우울증 , 조현병 발병 위험 증가와 관련이 있다.[10] 다른 GPR50 유전자 다형성들은 더 높은 단식 순환 트리글리세리드 수치와 더 낮은 순환 고밀도 지단백질 수치와 관련이 있다.[11]
