Media circus

미디어 서커스(media circus)는 현장의 기자 수와 방송 또는 출판된 자료의 양과 같은 요소로 측정되는 미디어 보도 수준이 보도되는 이벤트에 과도하거나 비례하지 않는다고 인식되는 뉴스 이벤트를 설명하는 구어적 은유 또는 관용구입니다. 선정적인 보도는 그 행사가 미디어 서커스의 주제라는 인식을 더할 수 있습니다. 이 용어는 행사의 보도를 서커스의 장관과 아름다움에 비유하여 비판하기 위한 것입니다. 이러한 의미의 용어 사용은 1970년대에 일반화되었습니다.[1][2] 특히 언론 보도 자체가 보도될 때는 미디어 공급 광풍 또는 단순한 미디어 광풍이라고도 할 수 있습니다.

이 아이디어는 더 오래되었지만 미디어 서커스라는 용어는 1970년대 중반쯤에 나타나기 시작했습니다. 초기 예는 작가 린 헤이니의 1976년 책에서 나온 것으로, 그녀는 운동선수 크리스 에버트가 관련된 로맨스에 대해 씁니다. "그들의 구애는 결국 '미디어 서커스'였습니다.'"몇[3] 년 후, 워싱턴 포스트는 "그레이스 공주 자신이 1956년 레이니어 왕자와 자신의 미디어 서클 결혼식에 대한 기억으로 인해 아직도 정신적 충격을 받고 있다"고 보도한 비슷한 구애 사례를 가지고 있습니다.[4]
