AM-1248은 칸나비노이드 수용체1 CB와2 CB 모두에 대해 중간 정도의 강력한 작용제 역할을 하는 약물이지만, 정확한 효능과 선택성에 대해 소스 간에 약간의 논란이 있다.인돌유래의 많은 칸나비노이드배위자에서 발견되는 3-(1-나프토일)기를 아다만토일기로 치환함으로써 일반적으로 유의한2 CB선택성을 [1]갖게 되지만, [2][3]인돌1-위치에 N-메틸피페리딘-2-일메틸치환 사용 시 합리적인1 CB친화성 및 선택성은 유지된다.관련 화합물 1-펜틸-3-(1-아다만토일) 인돌은 다른 합성 카나비노이드 AM-679와 [4]함께 2011년 헝가리에서 카나비노이드 디자이너 약물로 판매된 것으로 확인되었다.
