아쿠아포린-8은 인간에게 AQP8 유전자에 의해 암호화된 단백질이다.^[5]^[6]^[7]

아쿠아포린 8(AQP8)은 수채널 단백질이다.아쿠아포린은 주요 내인성 단백질(MIP 또는 AQP0)과 관련된 작은 적분막 단백질의 계열이다. 아쿠아포린 8mRNA는 췌장과 대장에서는 발견되지만 다른 조직에서는 발견되지 않는다.^[7]
