혈관내피증식인자 B는 VEGF-B [5]유전자에 의해 인간에서 부호화되는 단백질이다.VEGF-B는 혈관내피성장인자군에 속하는 성장인자로 VEGF-A가 가장 잘 알려져 있다.
기능.
VEGF-A와 달리 VEGF-B는 혈관 시스템에서 덜 뚜렷한 역할을 합니다.VEGF-A는 혈관의 형성에 중요한 반면, VEGF-B는 병리학적 조건 [6]중 새로 형성된 혈관의 유지에만 관여하는 것으로 보인다.VEGF-B는 또한 여러 종류의 뉴런에서 중요한 역할을 한다.뇌졸중 중에는[8] 망막과[7] 대뇌피질의 뉴런을 보호하고 근위축성 [9]측삭경화증과 같은 운동뉴런 질환 중에는 운동뉴런을 보호하는 데 중요하다.
VEGF-B는 FLT1 [10]수용체를 통해 그 효과를 발휘한다.
VEGF-B는 또한 심장과 [11][12]골격근에서 지방산의 내피 흡수 및 운반을 조절하는 것으로 밝혀졌다.
