키네신 헤비 체인 이소폼 5A는 인간에서 KIF5A 유전자에 의해 암호화된 단백질이다.[5][6][7]
이 유전자는 키네신 단백질의 한 구성원을 암호로 한다. 이 계열의 구성원들은 세포내 오르가넬 수송에서 미세관모터 역할을 하는 다관단지의 일부분이다. 이 유전자의 돌연변이는 자가우위성 척추측만증 10을 유발한다.[7]
상호작용
KIF5A는 KLC1과 상호작용하는 것으로 나타났다.[8][9]
임상적 유의성
KIF5A의 돌연변이는 2002년 더글러스 마추크에 의해 유전성 척추측만증 10형(SPG1)을 유발한 것으로 보고되었다.[10] 2018년에는 KIF5A에서 돌연변이가 일어나 브라이언 트레이너와 존 랜더스에 의해 근위축성 측경화증을 유발하는 것으로도 밝혀졌다.[11] KIF5A는 또한 베타 아밀로이드의 독성 효과를 미토콘드리아의 축 이송에 조절함으로써 알츠하이머병에서도 역할을 한다.[12]
