N-t-BOC-MDMA는 감정이입성 약물인 MDMA의 합성 전구체나 약물이 될 수 있는 화합물로 2015년 호주에서 처음 세관에 의한 압류로 확인되었고, 이후 중국, 네덜란드 등 유럽 국가에서 발견되고 있다. 원래는 수입 후 금지된 최종 제품으로 쉽게 전환될 수 있는 불법적인 형태의 MDMA로 생각되었으나, 경찰의 한 발작에서 알약으로 압착되는 과정에서 N-t-BOC-MDMA가 발견되었으며, 모의 위액 실험 결과 사람의 손에 의해 MDMA로 분해될 수 있는 것으로 확인되었다.토마흐산 N-t-BOC-메탐페타민, N-p-to-syl-메탐페타민, N-t-BOC-ketamine, N-t-BOC-노르케타민, N-methoxycarbonyl-MDA와 같은 유사한 N-보호 화합물도 법 집행에 의해 마주하게 되었다.[1][2][3][4][5][6][7]

법적현황

N-t-BOC-MDMA는 싱가포르와 한국에서 특별히 불법 마약으로 등재되었지만,[8][9] 호주와 여러 유럽 국가의 일반 마약 아날로그 조항에 의해서도 통제되고 있다.
