나선형(나선형 루프 또는 just loop)은 철도가 가파른 언덕을 오르기 위해 사용하는 기술이다.

철도의 나선은 고리를 완성할 때까지 일정한 곡선을 그리며 상승하며, 높이가 높아짐에 따라 스스로를 지나쳐 비교적 짧은 수평거리에서 철도가 수직 상승할 수 있게 된다. 지그재그에 대한 대안으로, 기차가 오르막길을 달리면서 정차하고 역방향으로 이동할 필요를 피한다. 기차가 각 루프의 길이보다 길면 자체 위에서 루프를 볼 수 있다.[1][2]

"루프"라는 용어는 또한 종종 급커브하다가 스스로 되돌아가는 철도에 사용된다: 철도가 스스로 교차하면 나선형이나 나선형을 형성하고, 그렇지 않으면 훨씬 더 흔한 말굽 곡선이나 굴곡을 형성한다.[3][4]
