샌프란시스코 베이 페리는 샌프란시스코 만의 대중교통 여객선 서비스로서, 샌프란시스코 베이 지역 수상 비상 교통국(WETA)이 관리하고 있다. 샌프란시스코 베이 페리는 샌프란시스코에서 마린 카운티까지 여객선 서비스를 제공하는 골든게이트 페리와는 다른 시스템이다.

경로

샌프란시스코 베이 페리는 5개의 통근 페리 노선을 운영하고 있으며, COVID-19 대유행으로 인해 6번째 노선이 일시적으로 중단되었다.[3]

모든 샌프란시스코 자이언츠 홈경기에 Oracle Park와 인접한 China Basin Perry Terminal까지 추가 특별 서비스가 운영된다. 이러한 게이메데이 서비스는 발레조와 오클랜드/알라메다 노선에서 운영된다.

역사

비상근무

1989년 로마 프리에타 지진 이후 며칠과 몇 주 동안 샌프란시스코와 이스트 베이 사이 여객선 운행이 서둘러 복구되었고, 샌프란시스코-오클랜드 베이 대교는 수리를 위해 폐쇄되었다.[6] 부활한 여객선의 인기와 비상시에 이 지역의 도로와 터널을 통행할 수 없게 되는 경우에 강력한 여객선 시스템의 필요성은 결국 샌프란시스코 만 여객선 시스템의 창설로 이어졌다.[7] 샌프란시스코 만 수자원 비상수송국(WETA)은 2007년 캘리포니아 주 의회가 상원의원 빌 976에 의해 창설한 정부 기관이다.[8] 이 기구는 입법부가 1999년에 설립한 샌프란시스코만수송청(WTA)이었다.[9]

발레호

발레조로 가는 통근 서비스는 1986년 9월에 시작되었다. 발레조가 동시에 개통된 여객선 터미널에 자금을 지원했음에도 불구하고, 그것은 보조금 없이 레드 & 화이트 선단에 의해 운영되었다.[10] 그 회사는 통근 서비스 때문에 돈을 잃었다; 1988년 10월에 그 도시는 서비스를 보조하기 시작했다. 다음 달 지역 조치 1의 통과는 추가 자금을 제공했다.[10] 1989년 지진 이후 워싱턴 주 페리 시스템에서 빌린 3척의 페리를 이용해 일시적으로 서비스가 증가했다. 1990년 발의안 제116호의 통과로 신규 선박 구매에 천만 달러를 지원했으며, 1991년 제정된 육상 운송 효율법에 따라 1,700만 달러를 추가로 지원했다.[10] 1994년 7월 1일 새로운 선박(MV Jet Cat Express)과 새로운 운영자(Blue & Gold Fleet)가 운항을 시작하였다. 1997년 5월 새로운 베이링크 브랜드로 두 대의 고속 카타마란(MV Intintoli와 MV Mare Island)이 서비스되었다.[10] 2004년에 MV Solano가 추가되어 일일 왕복 11회에서 15회로 증가하였다.[10] 이 링크는 웨스턴 익스프레스 자전거 루트의 일부분이다.

통합 및 확장

WETA는 이전에 알라메다 시와 오클랜드 항에서 운항한 여객선 운항을 가정해 왔다.[11] 페리 노선은 알라메다/오클랜드 페리, 알라메다 항만 페리 이름으로 운항했다. 2012년 6월 4일 사우스 샌프란시스코 시에 대한 서비스가 시작되었고, 이는 샌프란시스코 만 페리라는 새로운 이름의 사용과도 일치한다.[12][13][14] WETA는 2012년 7월 1일에 Baylink 서비스의 통제를 맡았다.[15] 발레호에서 샌프란시스코까지의 페리 운항은 1986년으로 거슬러 올라간다. 이 기구의 운영 자금의 약 절반은 2004년에 승인된 Bay Area Bridge의 통행료 1달러 인상된 지역 조치 2에서, 나머지 절반은 운임에서 나온다.[16][17] 2011년부터 민간 블루&골드함대는 WETA를 대신해 페리를 운항하는 계약을 맺고 있다.[18]

2013년 4월 29일에는 페리 빌딩을 통해 사우스샌프란시스코에서 오클랜드로 가는 세 번째 저녁 여행이 추가되었고, 수요일과 금요일에는 페리 빌딩을 경유하여 사우스샌프란시스코와 피어41 사이의 한낮의 레저 중심의 왕복 여행이 추가되었다.[19] 2014년 11월 3일 월요일부터 금요일까지 샌프란시스코 서비스가 확장되었으며, 피어 41 구간은 하락했다.[20] 2015년 5월 4일 사우스샌프란시스코~오아클랜드·알라메다 노선의 역방향 출퇴근 1회 운행은 중단돼 피크 방향 왕복 3회만 남았다.[21] 사우스샌프란시스코-페리빌딩 서비스는 2018년 7월 2일에 종료되었다.[22]

2014년 10월 26일 Oakland/Alameda와 Angel Island 사이의 계절 직영 서비스가 종료되었으며, 2015년 여름 시즌부터 Pier 41에서 Angel Island로의 블루 & 골드 플리트 서비스를 위한 시간제 환승 서비스가 도입되었다.[23][24] 2017년 1월 2일 WETA는 평일 발레조 서비스를 남부행 14회, 북행 13회로 늘렸으며, 노선 200회 운행은 중단되었다.[25] 솔트랜스는 마지막 페리를 놓친 승객을 위해 늦은 저녁 페리 빌딩을 경유해 북쪽으로 향하는 82번 국도 버스 단일편을 운행하기 시작했다.[26] 2017년 3월 6일 발레조 서비스의 짧은 연장선상에서 마레아일랜드로의 서비스가 시작되었다. 당초 평일 왕복 7회, 주말 왕복 4회가 마레아일랜드로 연장됐다.[27]

리치몬드 마리나베이 구에 있는 리치몬드 페리 터미널에서 샌프란시스코까지 리모델링한 평일 통근 서비스가 2015년 자금 및 계획 승인을 받아 2018년까지 운영이 가능해졌다.[28][29] 2019년 1월 10일부터 통근 및 역방향 제한 통근으로 서비스가 개시되었다.[30]

2019년 1월 7일 WETA는 사우스샌프란시스코와 하버베이 사이의 평일 피크시간 서비스 3개월의 파일럿을 시작했다.[31] 단 한 번의 왕복 여행은 아침에 하버베이까지, 저녁에는 사우스샌프란시스코까지 이어진다. 조종사 프로그램도 하버베이-샌프란시스코 간 아침 여행을 추가할 수 있도록 했다.[32]

미래확장

리치몬드 페리 터미널 2019년 개항

체이스센터에서 이벤트를 진행하기 위한 미션베이 내 추가 터미널은 16번가 기슭에 2021년 개통될 예정이며,[33][34] 임시 터미널은 48번 부두에 위치할 예정이다.[35] 여객선은 샌프란시스코 남부와 오클랜드/알라메다에서 이 터미널을 운행할 것이다.

WETA는 버클리와 레드우드 시티에서 샌프란시스코까지 새로운 서비스를 구축할 계획이다. 그것의 장기적인 비전은 또한 샌프란시스코에서 안티오키아, 헤라클레스, 마르티네스, 트레져 아일랜드까지 서비스를 포함한다.[36] WETA는 이 새로운 서비스와 기존 노선의 주파수 증가를 수용하기 위해 2035년까지 13척에서 57척으로 선단을 늘릴 계획이다.[37]

2018년 말 현재 WETA의 함대는 13척의 선박으로 구성되어 있으며, 3척은 다코타 크릭 인더스트리즈에서 건조 중이며 2019년에 취항할 예정이다.[37][needs update] 장기적인 계획은 2035년까지 44척의 여객선을 추가로 입항시킬 것을 요구한다.[37]
