방어전(독일어: 정점성스크리그[1])는 정의로운 전쟁 전통의 기준으로 전쟁을 정당화하는 원인 중 하나이다. 양측이 서로를 침략하고 정복하려는 전쟁과는 달리 적어도 한 나라가 다른 나라로부터 자신을 방어하려고 하는 전쟁을 의미한다.[citation needed]
역사
미국의 대영전쟁 지지자들은 1812년 전쟁은 방어전이라고 주장했다.[2]

평화주의자 마지드 카두리(1909~2007)의 부름을 받은 이슬람 학자 수피안 알 타우리(716~778)는 지하드(성전)는 방어전일 뿐이라고 주장했다.[3]
