당단백질 호르몬인 알파 폴리펩타이드는 사람에게서 CGA ^[5]유전자에 의해 암호화되는 단백질이다.

고나도트로핀 호르몬, 인간 융모막 성선 자극 호르몬(hCG), 황체 자극 호르몬(LH), 모낭 자극 호르몬(FSH) 및 갑상선 자극 호르몬(TSH)은 알파와 베타 아단위(사슬이라고도 함)로 이루어진 헤테로디미터이다.이 네 가지 인간 당단백질 호르몬의 알파 소단위들은 동일하지만, 그들의 베타 사슬은 독특하고 생물학적 특이성을 부여한다.이 유전자에 의해 암호화된 단백질은 알파 서브유닛이며 당단백질 호르몬 알파사슬 계열에 ^[6]속합니다.
