힐다 비머 쿠퍼(Née Beemer; 1911년 8월 23일 ~ 1992년[1] 4월 23일)는 스와지 문화에 대한 광범위한 연구로 가장 유명한 사회 인류학자였다.
초년기
남부 로데시아의 볼라와요에서 리투아니아계 유대인과 오스트리아계 유대인 부모에게서 태어난 쿠퍼는 아버지가 사망한 후 남아프리카로 이주했다. 그녀는 위트워터스랜드 대학에서, 그 후 말리노프스키 산하의 런던 경제대학에서 공부했다.
박사학위 현장학 및 인류학 경력
1934년 쿠퍼는 스와질랜드에서 공부하기 위해 국제아프리카연구소로부터 펠로우십을 받았다.[2][4] 그해 7월 요하네스버그에서 열린 교육회의에서 그녀는 최고 책임자인 소부자 2세를 만났고 이후 스와질란드의 왕이었다.[4] 소부자와 말리노프스키의 도움을 받아 쿠퍼는 로밤바 왕족 마을로 이주하여 소부자의 어머니인 왕비 로마와에게 소개되었다.[4] 여기서 쿠퍼는 siSwati를 배우고 그녀의 현장 연구를 추구했다.[4] 쿠퍼의 스와지 문화 연구의 이 단계는 2부 논문인 "아프리카 귀족계급"과 "색깔의 통일: 스와질랜드의 백인과 흑인의 관계에 대한 연구"에서 절정에 달했다.

사생활
쿠퍼는 1936년에 레오 쿠퍼와 결혼했다. 그들에게는 메리와 제니라는 두 딸이 있었다.[2][4] 그녀의 조카인 아담 쿠퍼도 인류학자다.
