Flexjet는 부분 소유 항공기, 임대 및 제트 카드 서비스를 제공하는 미국 업체다. 1995년 봄바디어에어로스페이스의 사단법인으로 설립된 이 회사는 현재 항공 민간투자회사인 방향 항공이 소유하고 있다.
배경
Flexjet는 제트 소유권, 임대 및 제트 카드 서비스를 제공하는 업체다. 항공기업가 켄 리치가 설립한 민간투자회사 방향 항공은 2013년부터 플렉스젯을 보유하고 있다.[2] 오하이오주 리치몬드 하이츠에 본사를 둔 플렉스젯은 리치 회장과 마이클 J. 실베스트로 최고경영자(CEO)가 이끌고 있다. 플렉스젯은 가장 규모가 큰 민간 제트기 회사 중 하나이다. 그 회사는 2,100명이 넘는 고객을 대상으로 서비스를 하고 있다.[3]
역사
1995년에 설립된 플렉스젯은 세계 최대 비즈니스 항공 제조업체인[4] 봄바디어 항공우주부(Bambaradier Aerospace)와 그 자체로 봄바디어사의 사업부로서 분업 제트기 소유 시장에 진출했다.[5]
1998년까지 비즈니스 제트 솔루션으로 사업을 하고 있는 플렉스젯은 리어젯 31A, 리어젯 45, 리어젯 60, 챌린저 60 등 41대의 항공기를 보유하여 200여 명의 고객에게 서비스를 제공하였다.[6]
한때 플렉스젯은 부분 소유권과 제트카드뿐만 아니라 항공기 전세 서비스도 제공했다. 플렉스젯은 2000년 봄바디어에어로스페이스가 민간 제트기차 온라인 예약을 개척한 스카이젯을 인수하면서 전세 시장에 뛰어들었다. 봄바디어 아래에서 스카이젯은 멤버십 프로그램을 제공하는 첫 번째 회사 중 하나가 되었고, 결국 이 프로그램은 스카이젯 카드가 되었다.[7]
2002년까지 플렉스젯은 설립 이후 연평균 20%의 성장률을 보였다. 이 중 절반인 1000명 이상을 비행승무원으로 고용하고 105대의 항공기를 운용해 640명의 소유주를 섬겼다. 당시 플렉스젯은 전체 분수 시장의 약 6분의 1을 차지했고, 그 후 항공기 650대, 소유주 3,500여 명에 달했다.[1]
플렉스젯은 2005년에 비해 부분주 매출이 28%, 매출이 30% 증가하는 등 2006년에 처음으로 상당한 수익을 올렸다. 그것은 4년 전에 누렸던 분수 시장의 약 16%를 유지했다. 이 기간 동안 리어젯 40과 45, 60, 60 XR, 챌린저 300, 챌린저 604, 챌린저 605 등 항공기의 사거리를 확대하기 시작했다.[8]
2008년 비스타제트는 미국 이외의 사업장을 인수해 스카이제트 인터내셔널로 낙인찍고 사업장을 흡수했다.[9] 이후 플렉스젯은 나머지 국내 차터 서비스를 자체 브랜드로 통합했다.[10]
2008년의 금융 위기와 그에 따른 경기 침체는 민간 제트 산업에 상당한 영향을 미쳐 많은 항공사들의 감원과 감소를 강요했다. Flexjet는 경기 침체를 극복했고 2013년 봄에는 1분기에 부분적인 주식 매출이 전년 동기 대비 108% 증가하면서 다시 매출 호조를 보였다.[11] 플렉스젯은 경기 침체에 시달리던 조종사들을 다시 데려오기 시작했다.[12]
2013년 9월 민간 항공투자회사 방향항공은 봄바디어로부터 플렉스젯을 현금 1억8500만달러에 인수한다고 발표했다.[2] 동시에 플렉스젯은 봄바디어에 약 18억 달러에 달하는 85대의 제트기에 대해 주문을 했고, 최대 160대의 제트기를 추가로 주문할 수 있어 계약금액이 52억 달러에 이를 수 있었다.[13]
2014년, 플렉스젯은 전세 시장을 떠났다. 방향성항공은 항공회사의 첫 통합의 일환으로 플렉시블제트와 센티엔트 제트사의 전세 중개업무를 스카이젯 브랜드로 옮겼다. 스카이젯은 플렉스젯이 계속해서 분수 프로그램을 제공하고 센티엔트 제트가 제트 카드 프로그램을 제공하는 등 전세 서비스에만 집중할 것이다.[14]
현재 Flexjet는 다음과 같은 3가지 프로그램을 제공하고 있다. 부분 소유권, 임대 및 Flexjet 25 Jet 카드.
2015년에는 각 항공기에 전용 비행 승무원, 맞춤형 인테리어, 좌석 구성, 업계 최연소 비행대 등이 제공되는 레드 라벨도 출시했다. 레드 라벨 아래 있는 각각의 항공기는 5년 미만이다.[15]
이 밖에 2016년 플로리다주 나폴리에 이 회사 최초의 전용 전용 여객기 터미널이 개통된 [16]데 이어 플로리다주 웨스트팜비치, 뉴욕주 웨스트체스터 카운티 공항에도 비슷한 시설이 문을 열었다. 텍사스주 댈러스 러브필드의 한 시설이 2019년 중 문을 열 것으로 보인다.[17]
플렉스젯도 2016년 유럽 내 서비스 개시를 발표해 영국계 전세 및 매니지먼트사 플라이젯 인수를 통해 초기 제공 인프라를 구축, 유럽 내 영업이 가능하도록 했다.[18] 2018년 방향성항공의 원스카이 유럽 계열사가 민간 제트기 운영사 겸 항공기 관리회사인 이탈리아 밀라노의 지배지분을 인수했다.[19] 좀 더 최근에, OneSky는 영국 본사가 있는 개인 제트 전세기의 디지털 예약 서비스인 PrivateFly를 인수했다.[20]
2019년 말 플렉스젯의 유럽 진출은 런던에 플렉스젯 하우스가 개장하면서 계속되어 유럽 본사의 역할을 하였다. 또 비행물류 조율을 위한 런던 루턴 공항 인근 유럽전술통제소와 이탈리아 밀라노 리나테 공항 구내에 항공기 정비시설이 문을 열었다.[21]
2020년 11월 플렉스젯은 유럽에 본사를 둔 엠브라에르 프리토르 600 기종의 기존 항공기인 엠브라에르 레거시 500s와 600s에 추가해 신형 엠브라에르 프라토르 600 기종을 인도받기 시작했다.[22]

플렉스젯은 2019년[update] 10월 엠브레이어 이그제트 소속 항공기 64대에 대해 프라토르 500기, 프라토르 600기, 페넘 300기 등의 주문을 발표했다.[24] 또한 걸프스트림 G700의 북미 출시 고객이 될 것이다.[25]

Bombardier Flexjet bought Skyjet in 2000, three years after the charter broker was started, but sold Skyjet International to VistaJet in 2008 and subsequently shelved the U.S. division of Skyjet. Since then, VistaJet absorbed Skyjet International into its operations and no longer uses the name.

Fractional provider Bombardier Flexjet reported an 83-percent rise in new business growth in the first quarter versus a year ago. During this period, its fractional sales reportedly climbed by 108 percent, while new jet card sales rose by 48 percent.

The fractional jet ownership company Flexjet has announced plans to open a new private terminal in the Braniff Centre at Dallas Love Field. In addition to a terminal exclusively for Flexjet customers, the facility will feature covered parking, 32,000 feet of office space for Flexjet staff, and 60,000 square feet of hangar space for Flexjet’s maintenance operations, which are presently located in Addison, Texas.
