철도 교통은 월트 디즈니 회사의 4대 사업 부문 중 하나 인 디즈니 파크, 체험 및 상품들 이 소유하거나 허가한 모든 테마 파크 리조트 재산에서 찾을 수 있다.[3] [4] 디즈니 테마파크 철도 수송 의 기원은 1955년 7월 17일 개장한 미국 캘리포니아 의 최초의 디즈니 공원(디즈니랜드 리조트의 핵심 구성요소)에 포함되어야 한다고 주장한 월트 디즈니 본인과 철도에 대한 그의 개인적인 호감에서 찾을 수 있다.[5] [6] 미국 플로리다 월트 디즈니 월드,[7] 일본 도쿄 디즈니 리조트,[8] 프랑스 디즈니랜드 파리 디즈니랜드,[9] 중국 홍콩 디즈니랜드 리조트,[10] 중국 상하이 디즈니 리조트 등이 개장하면서 철도를 이용한 교통을 공원에 포함시키는 디즈니의 전통이 다른 디즈니 부동산으로 확대됐다.[11] 디즈니 테마파크 체인은 2019년 연간 1억5500만 명이 넘는 방문객으로 지구상에서 가장 큰 규모로, 건물 내부에 위치한 철도시스템이 교통수단으로서나 방문객들의 볼거리로서 핵심적인 역할을 하고 있다.[12]
디즈니 테마파크 리조트마다 미국과 일본의 디즈니 리조트 재산 내부에 위치한 모노레일 시스템이든,[13] [14] [15] 프랑스와 중국의 디즈니 리조트에 외부 철도망을 연결하는 재래식 철도 시스템이든, 일반 리조트 구역에 서비스를 제공하는 철도 수송 시스템을 갖추고 있다.[16] [17] [18] 캘리포니아의 디즈니랜드 모노레일 시스템은 미국 최초의 모노레일 시스템이었다. 플로리다의 월트 디즈니 월드 모노레일 시스템은 하루에 약 15만명의 승객이 탑승하는 것으로 세계에서 가장 바쁜 모노레일 시스템 중 하나이다.[19] [20] 미국과 일본, 프랑스의 디즈니 파크 리조트에는 모두 진정한 증기 철도를 특징으로 하는 테마파크가 있다.[21] 디즈니 파크 체인은 세계에서 가장 큰 개인용 증기 기관차 수집품 중 하나를 가지고 있으며, 총 17개가 전세계에 퍼져 있다.[21] 미국 휴양지와 홍콩 휴양지의 테마파크 내 추가 철도 시스템은 증기 기관차와 유사하지만, 그들의 기관차는 내연기관차 에 의해 작동된다.[22] [23] [24] 디즈니 파크에서 발견되는 다른 철도 운송 수단으로는 미국과 프랑스의 두 휴양지 내에서의 말이 끄는 전차선,[25] [26] [27] 캘리포니아와 일본의 복제된 빈티지한 전기 철도선,[28] [29] 플로리다의 피플 무버 등이 있다.[30]
