애플 TV 앱[12](일명 애플 TV,[13][14] TV, TV[15][16] 앱)[n 1]은 애플이 소비자 전자 기기에 전달하는 텔레비전 쇼와 영화를 보기 위해 애플사가 개발한 미디어 플레이어 소프트웨어 프로그램 라인이다.아이튠즈 스토어, 애플 TV 채널 온 디맨드 비디오 서비스, 애플 TV+ 오리지널 콘텐츠 구독 서비스 등에서 콘텐츠를 스트리밍할 수 있다.[17][18]아이폰, 아이패드, 아이팟 터치, 애플 TV에서도 다른 온 디맨드 비디오 서비스의 링크된 앱에서 콘텐츠를 인덱싱하고 액세스할 수 있다.

TV는 2016년 10월 27일 애플 미디어 행사에서 발표되었으며, 2016년 12월 12일 미국에서 iOS 10.2, tvOS 10.1로 출시되어 이전 버전의 iOS에서 "비디오" 어플리케이션을 대체하였다.아이튠즈 스토어의 텔레비전 쇼와 영화를 설치된 파트너 앱의 콘텐츠로 집계하고, 동일한 애플 ID를 사용하여 기기 간 진행 상황을 추적할 수 있다.TV 앱 내부에는 애플 서비스의 콘텐츠만 열리고 다른 콘텐츠는 링크된 앱에서 오픈된다.[25]

macOS 버전

TV는 2019년 10월 7일 iTunes를 대체하기 위해 만들어진 세 가지 애플리케이션 중 하나로 macOS 카탈리나와 함께 출시되었다.[37][20]2018년 이후 출시된 맥북에서 돌비 아트모스, 돌비비전, HDR10 등을 지원하고, 호환 디스플레이에 연결하면 2018년 이후 출시된 아이맥 프로[38] 등 맥에서 4K HDR 재생이 지원된다.[39]

애플TV 채널은 인기 동영상 콘텐츠를 온디맨드 라카르트 가입 서비스로 집계한 서비스로 TV 앱에서 접속이 가능하다.[17][18]2019년 3월 발표한 '동영상 콘텐츠 허브'는 하나의 영상 콘텐츠 허브에서 구매와 접속이 가능하도록 해 구독을 간소화하기 위한 것으로, 소비자가 각 서비스의 자체 가입 메커니즘을 사용하거나 각 서비스의 앱이나 웹사이트를 통해 콘텐츠를 볼 필요가 없다.[54][55]아마존 채널, 훌루 애드온스 등 유사 서비스와 경쟁하기 위한 것으로, 유사하게 여러 개의 서브스크립션 프리미엄 네트워크를 한 곳에서 이용할 수 있게 한다.[18]애플 자체 청구 서비스를 통해 결제 방식도 중앙 집중화할 수 있다.[55]유료 구독 서비스의 콘텐츠이기 때문에 광고가 무료다.[55]오프라인으로 볼 수 있도록 콘텐츠를 단말기에 내려받을 수도 있고, 가족 내에서 계정을 공유할 수 있는 옵션이 있다.[55]
