수용체형 티로신단백질인산가수분해효소 F는 PTPRF [5][6]유전자에 의해 인체 내에서 암호화되는 효소이다.
이 유전자에 의해 암호화된 단백질은 단백질 티로신 포스파타아제(PTP) 계열의 구성원이다.PTP는 세포 성장, 분화, 유사분열 주기, 그리고 발암성 변형을 포함한 다양한 세포 과정을 조절하는 신호 분자로 알려져 있다.이 PTP는 세포외 영역, 단일 막간 영역 및 2개의 탠덤 세포질내 촉매 도메인을 가지며, 따라서 수용체형 PTP를 나타낸다.세포외 영역은 3개의 Ig 유사 도메인과 신경세포 접착 분자와 유사한 9개의 비 Ig 유사 도메인을 포함한다.이 PTP는 아데렌스 접합부의 상피 세포-세포 접촉 조절과 베타-카테닌 신호 조절에서 기능하는 것으로 나타났다.이 단백질의 증가된 발현 수준은 비만, 인슐린 내성 개인의 인슐린 반응성 조직에서 발견되었으며 인슐린 저항성의 병인에 기여할 수 있다.다른 단백질을 코드하는 이 유전자의 두 가지 대체적으로 결합된 전사 변형이 [6]보고되었다.

PTPRF는 베타-카테닌[7][8] 및 리핀-알파-1과 [9][10][11]상호작용하는 것으로 나타났다.
