The Special Branch Bureau or SBB (Thai: กองบัญชาการตำรวจสันติบาล) is a Law enforcement agency under the Royal Thai Police Headquarters. 특별지국에는 국가안보를 위협하는 인물이나 집단의 첩보에 관한 조치와 함께 왕과 왕비, 왕실 전체에 대한 주요 보안기능이 있다. 이 기관은 2475년 11월 17일 프라자디포크 국왕 칙령에 의해 하원의 조언에 의해 설립되었다. 그 결과 부서는 네 개의 분열로 나뉜다. 비평가들에게 '정치경찰'이라고 불리기도 하는 이 단체는 전복적인 활동을 통제할 책임이 있으며, 태국 경찰의 주요 정보기관이자 VIP 보호를 담당하는 부대의 역할을 하고 있다.

역사

특별 지국(SBB) 부서는 범죄 예방 및 진압 지원 그룹의 일환으로 태국 왕립 경찰에 존재한다.[1] 정보 수집과는 별도로, 그들은 방콕 경찰국, 국군 보안 센터와 함께 VIP들에게 보호를 제공한다[2].[3] 그들은 태국 국적의 포기 등 시민권과 관련된 일을 처리한다.[4] 태국에 거주하는 외국인들은 태국 경찰 출입 허가증을 확보하기 위해 특별지사로 간다.[5][6] 태국 국가 안보를 위태롭게 하는 사건, 테러 등 다른 사건도 태국 SBB가 담당한다.[7][8][9]

SBB는 냉전 기간 동안 말레이시아 특별 지부와 함께 일했다.[10] 당시 친공산주의자로 지목된 3008명이 타놈 키티카초른 총리 시절 200리터(44imp gal, 53미국 gal)의 붉은 드럼통을 산 채로 또는 반의식적으로 불태워 소각한 레드 드럼 살인사건에 SBBB 장교들이 연루됐다.[11]

SBB는 파룬궁 실무자들에 대한 인권침해 혐의로 기소되었다.[12] 그들은 정부에 대한 정치적 반대 의견을 전달하기 위한 수단으로 홍보되어 왔다.[13] 이 분열은 2007년 총선을 앞두고 SBB가 선거 결과를 평가하기 위해 자체 여론조사를 실시했다는 언론 보도가 나오면서 논란을 일으켰다.[14][15] 2011년 총선을 앞두고 비슷한 사연에 대해 SB는 데이터 수집을 여론조사가 아닌 연구로 특징지었다.[16]
