ISO 4(정보 및 문서 – 제목 단어 및 출판물의 제목 약어 규칙)는 연속 출판물 제목, 즉 과학 저널과 같은 출판물 제목을 정기적으로 [1]분할하여 발행하는 통일된 시스템을 정의하는 국제 표준이다.

ISO(International Organization for Standardization)는 ISSN International Center를 ISO 4의 등록 기관으로 지정했습니다.ISSN International Center는 시리얼 타이틀에서 흔히 볼 수 있는 단어의 표준 약어를 포함하는 LTWA(List of Title Word 약어 목록)를 유지하고 있습니다.2017년 8월 기준으로, 이 표준의 가장 최근 업데이트는 1997년 [2]3판이 출시되었습니다.[3]

ISO 4의 주요 용도는 LTWA를 사용하여 과학 저널의 이름을 축약하는 것이다.예를 들어 ISO 4 표준에 따르면 Journal of Biological Chemistry는 J. Biol로 인용된다. 화학, 및 고분자 과학 저널 A는 J. Polym으로 인용되어야 한다. Sci. A(대문자는 표준에서 규정되지 않음)표준에는 다음과 같이 명시되어 있다. "풀스톱은 약자를 나타낼 때만 사용해야 한다.구두점을 제한적으로 사용해야 하는 어플리케이션에서는 줄임말에서 마침표를 생략할 수 있다."(4.6항).

1972년(ISO 4:1972),[4] 1984년(ISO 4:1984),[5] 1997년(ISO 4:1997)[3]에 초판이 발행되었다.
