하모니 오브 더 시즈는 STX프랑스가 로얄 캐리비안 인터내셔널을 [15]위해 프랑스 생나자르의 샹티에 드 라틀란티크 조선소에서 건조하는 오아시스급 선박이다. 총톤수 22만6963GT로 큰 언니 오아시스(Oasis of the Season)와 얼루어(Allure of the Season)보다 크지만 새 여동생 심포니(Symphony of the Season)에 의해 추월된 세계 2위 여객선이다.[1] 하지만, 길이로 보면, 바다의 조화는 세계에서 가장 긴 유람선이다.[17]

역사

오아시스급 1호 2척의 성공으로 2012년 12월 로열캐리비안 크루즈(Royal Carible Cruise)가 3호선을 발주하게 됐다.[4] 바다의 조화는 국제우주정거장에 있는 하모니 모듈의 이름을 따서 명명되었다. 이 배는 2015년 6월 19일 출항해 2016년 3월 10일 첫 해상 재판을 시작해 2016년 5월 12일 로열캐리비언에 인도됐다.[18][3] 32개월의 공사기간을 거쳐 2016년 5월 15일 생나자르의 STX프랑스 부두에서 7만여 명이 지켜보는 가운데 처음 출항했다.[19] 대서양을 횡단한 2016년 10월 23일까지 본항은 바르셀로나였지만 첫 행선지는 잉글랜드 사우샘프턴이었다.[20]

기술

바다의 조화는 그녀의 여동생이 바다의 오아시스와 바다의 얼루어보다 20% 더 에너지 효율적이다. 킬에서 나오는 작은 기포는 항력을 줄여 연료소모를 7~8% 정도 줄이며, 선체 표면이 매끄러워지면 저항이 더욱 줄어든다. 버블 시스템은 또한 프로펠러 소음을 줄여주며, 유명인 반사 및 바다의 양자에도 사용된다. LED와 형광등은 백열등을 대체하여 전력소비를 줄이고 에어컨의 필요성을 절감한다. 엔진 시스템은 폐열 회수 시스템을 사용하며, 3개의 아지포드 프로펠러를 구동한다.[33][34][35]

사건

2016년 9월 13일 경비훈련 도중 구명정이 이탈해 5층 갑판에서 추락해 직원 1명이 숨지고 4명이 다쳤다.[36][37]

2018년 12월 25일 영국 승무원 Arron Hough는 출근하지 않아 다른 승무원들에 의해 실종 신고가 접수됐다. 미 해안경비대는 2018년 12월 27일 선원이 초과 탑승했다는 신고를 받고 선내 엔터테이너에 대한 수색을 중단했다.[38][39][40]

2019년 1월 11일, 16세의 한 아이가 근처 발코니를 통해 8층 선실로 들어가려다가 미끄러져 숨졌다. 이 사고는 이 배가 아이티의 임대된 반도인 라바데에 정박하는 동안 발생했다. 이 배의 의료진은 심폐소생술을 실시했지만, 이 소년은 심각한 머리 외상을 입었고 부상으로 사망했다.[41]
