2G

2G셀룰러 네트워크에 사용되는 기술 표준의 그룹인 2세대 셀룰러 네트워크의 짧은 표기법입니다. 2G는 1991년 Radioolinja(현재 Elisa Oyj의 일부)에 의해 핀란드GSM 표준에 상업적으로 개시되었습니다.[1]2G가 시작된 후, 이전의 이동 무선 네트워크 시스템들은 소급적으로 1G라고 불렸습니다.1G 네트워크의 무선 신호가 아날로그인 반면, 2G 네트워크의 무선 신호는 디지털 신호이지만, 두 시스템 모두 셀룰러 무선 타워를 모바일 네트워크 시스템의 나머지 부분에 연결하기 위해 디지털 신호를 사용합니다.

2.5G (GPRS)

2.5G("second and half generation")[4]는 회선 교환 도메인 외에 패킷 교환 도메인을 구현한 2G 시스템을 설명하는 데 사용됩니다.타임슬롯 번들링은 HSCSD(회로 스위칭 데이터 서비스)에도 사용되기 때문에 반드시 더 빠른 서비스를 제공하지는 않습니다.


2.75G (EDGE)

GPRS 네트워크는 8PSK 인코딩의 도입으로 EDGE 네트워크로 발전하였습니다.심볼 속도는 초당 270.833 샘플로 동일하게 유지되었지만, 각 심볼은 1비트가 아닌 3비트를 전송했습니다.향상된 데이터 전송률(EDGE), 향상된 GPRS(EGPRS) 또는 IMT-SC(IMT Single Carrier)는 표준 GSM에 추가하여 데이터 전송률을 향상시킬 수 있는 역호환성 디지털 휴대 전화 기술입니다. EDGE는 2003년부터 미국의 AT&T에 의해 처음으로 GSM 네트워크에 구현되었습니다.
