Library publishing

캠퍼스 기반 출판으로도 알려진 도서관 출판은 출판 서비스를 제공하는 학술 도서관의 관행이다.[1]

개념

도서관 출판 서비스는 보통 학술지를 발행하고 종종 더 광범위한 출판 서비스도 제공한다.[2] 여기에는 학술적 모노그래프 및 회의 진행과 같은 다른 형식의 출판이 포함될 수 있다.[3] 일반적으로 오픈 액세스 퍼블리싱을 선호한다.[4]

도서관 출판은 인쇄보다는 전자출판에 초점을 맞추는 경우가 많아 전통적인 학술지 출판의 역할을 보완한다.[5] 때로는 같은 기관에 기반을 둔 도서관과 대학 출판부가 파트너십을 맺어 각자가 각자의 전문 분야에 초점을 맞추기도 한다.[6][7] 예를 들어 피츠버그 대학 도서관 출판 서비스는 동료 검토 저널을 발행하고 대학 언론과 협력하여 오픈 액세스 단노그래프를 발행한다.[8]

저널 발행 프로세스를 관리하기 위해 소프트웨어를 이용할 수 있다. 공공 지식 프로젝트에 의한 오픈 소스 오픈 저널 시스템과 디지털 커먼스의 비프레스는 둘 다 도서관 출판 서비스에 의해 널리 사용되고 있다.[9] 일부 도서관은 Open Journal Systems를 사용하여 기관 저장소에 보관된 학술적 내용을 보여주는 오버레이 저널을 만든다.[10]

역사

도서관 출판은 오랜 역사를 가지고 있고 인터넷 이전부터 있어왔다.[11]

1990년, 학술 도서관은 최초의 학술 전자 학술지 중 두 개를 인터넷에 게재했다. 휴스턴 대학 도서관은 The Public-Access Computer Systems Review를 출판하기 시작했고 버지니아 공대 도서관은 국제 접대 연구 학술지(Journal of International Academy Research)를 발행하기 시작했다. [14]

시너지 프로젝트(2007~2011년)는 캐나다 여러 대학들이 기관 출판 활동을 지원하기 위한 인프라 조성을 위해 협업한 프로젝트였다.[15] 2008년 한 연구원이 실시한 조사에 따르면 당시 북미지역 연구도서관의 65%가 도서관 출판서비스를 갖고 있거나 도서관 창설을 고려하고 있는 것으로 나타났다.[6]

2011년 영국에서 Jisc는 다음 세 가지 도서관 출판 프로젝트에 자금을 지원했다. Huddersfield 대학의 HoAP(Huddersfield Open Access Publishing), 런던 대학의 SAS Open Journals, UCL의 EPICURE.[16]

도서관 출판 연합회는 도서관 출판 활동의 거점을 제공하기 위해 2013년에 발족되었다.[4] 2013년 10월 오픈액세스위크 기간 중 115개 학술·연구도서관의 도서관 출판 활동에 대한 정보를 담은 도서관 출판 디렉토리를 개설했다[17].[18]
