GRIN1글루탐산염[NMDA] 수용체 서브유닛 제타-1은 인간에서 GRY1 유전자에 의해 암호화된 단백질이다.[5][6]
이 유전자에 의해 인코딩된 단백질은 글루탐산 수용체 채널 슈퍼패밀리의 멤버인 N-메틸-D-아스파테이트 수용체의 중요한 서브유닛으로, 여러 개의 서브유닛이 리간드 게이트 이온 채널을 형성하도록 배열되어 있다.이러한 하위 단위는 기억과 학습의 기초가 되는 시냅스의 가소성에 중요한 역할을 한다.이 유전자는 21개의 엑손으로 구성되며, 대체적으로 분할되어 C-terminus에서 다른 성적변형을 생성한다.비록 엑손 5의 순서는 인간과 쥐에서 동일하지만, 쥐에서 대체 엑손 5의 스플라이싱은 아직 인간에서 증명되지 않았다.세포 특이적 요인은 다른 등소형식의 발현을 제어하는 것으로 생각되며, 서브유닛의 기능적 다양성에 기여할 수 있다.[6]
