윙클 트리플 투영법
Winkel tripel projection세계의 변형된 방위 지도 투영법인 윙클 트리펠 투영법(Winkel III)은 독일의 지도제작자 오스왈드 윙켈(1874년 1월 7일~1953년 7월 18일)이 1921년 제안한 세 가지 투영법 중 하나이다. 투영은 등사각형 투영과 Aitoff 투영의 산술 평균이다.[1] 트리플(triple, 'triple'을 뜻하는 독일어)이란 명칭은 면적, 방향, 거리 등 3가지 왜곡을 최소화하겠다는 윙클의 목표를 가리킨다.[2]

폐쇄형 역 매핑은 존재하지 않으며, 역수치로 계산하려면 반복 방법을 사용해야 한다.[3]
다른 투영과 비교
David M. Goldberg와 J. Richard Gott III는 Winkel tripel 요금이 그들의 왜곡 측정에 대해 분석된 여러 다른 예상들에 비해 더 낫다는 것을 보여주었고, 최소한의 거리, Tissot indicatrix 타원성과 면적 오류, 그리고 그들이 연구한 어떤 예상들 중 가장 작은 왜곡을 나타냈다.[4] 다른 지표로 볼 때, 케이프크의 "Q"인 윙클 트리펠은 세계 100개 지도 예상 중 9위를 차지했는데, 이는 일반적인 에커트 4세 예측과 로빈슨 예측에 뒤쳐진 것이다.[5]
1998년, Winkel tripel 투영법은 National Geographic Society에 의해 만들어진 세계 지도에 대한 표준 투영법으로 로빈슨 투영법을 대체했다.[2] 많은 교육 기관과 교과서는 곧 내셔널 지오그래픽의 예시를 따랐고, 대부분의 교육 기관들은 여전히 이 프로젝트를 활용하고 있다.[6][7]
