'걸벤키안상 '과 '예술기금상 '으로 알려진 올해의 박물관상 은 '상상, 혁신, 우수성의 트랙'으로 영국의 한 박물관이나 갤러리 에 매년 수여하는 상이다. 10만 파운드의 상은 영국의 단일 미술상으로는 가장 크며, 단일 박물관 미술상으로는 세계에서 가장 큰 상이다.[1] 이 상은 크고 작은 영국 어느 박물관이나 미술관에나 수여되며, 심사위원들의 의견으로는, 주로 전년도 동안 진행된 작업을 통해 상상력, 혁신성, 우수성의 기록을 가장 잘 보여준다.[2] [3]
역사 그 해의 박물관은 1973년부터 2000년까지 영국의 자선단체인 국가유산에 의해 수여되었다.[4] 2001년 박물관상신탁은 이 상을 대신할 단일 상과 박물관협회 , 미술기금 , 박물관 캠페인 등 3개 상이 수여되는 것을 목적으로 설립되었다.[5] 굴벤키안 상은 알려진 바와 같이 2003년에 처음 수여되었다.[3] 2007년까지 이 상의 주요 스폰서는 리스본 에 본사 를 둔 칼루스테 굴벤키안 재단 이었으나, 2008년부터 아트 펀드의 후원을 받아왔다.[6] 2012년 말 현재의 명칭을 채택하였고,[7] 2013년 새 명칭의 첫 번째 상이 수여되었다.
2011년부터 1만 파운드의 가치가 있고 클로어 더필드 재단이 후원하는 '클로어상 박물관 학습 상'은 '학교 내 또는 대학 내 어떤 환경에서도 어린이와 젊은이(초기부터 25세까지)와 함께 하는 수준 높은 박물관 및 갤러리 학습상'을 수상하고 있다.[8] 이 상은 처음 2년 동안 별도의 최종 후보 목록을 가지고 있었지만 2013년에 4개에서 10개로 확대된 올해의 박물관 최종 후보 기관에게 수여되었다.[5]
