2016년 9월 현재 이 회사는 800만 개의 식량을 출하했다.[4] 2017년 6월 이 회사는 공모에 들어갔다.[5]

맷 살츠버그, 일리아 파파스, 맷 와디악은 2012년 8월부터 조리법을 조리할 재료가 들어 있는 박스를 고객들에게 처음 보내기 시작했으며, 롱아일랜드 시티의 상업적 주방에서 처음 주문한 30개 주문품을 포장해 배송했다.[6] 2014년 5월 캘리포니아주 리치먼드에 이행센터를 설립한다고 발표했다.[7] 블루 에이프런은 2014년 11월 주방 도구와 조리용품을 선보이는 가게인 블루 에이프런 마켓(Blue Afron Market)을 출시했다.[8] 2014년 12월 뉴저지 주 저지시티에 또 다른 이행센터를 열었다.[9]

2015년 6월 텍사스 알링턴에 세 번째 이행 센터가 문을 연 후, 그 회사는 인접한 미국으로의 선적을 시작했다.[10]

블루 에이프런은 2015년 9월 고객에게 월 500ml 병 6개를 보내는 소비자 직거래 와인 배달 서비스 '블루 에이프런 와인'을 출시했다.[11] 블루 에이프런을 위해 특별히 제작된 와인은 포도원에서 직접 구입하여 고객에게 직접 배송된다.[12]

버즈피드는 2016년 10월 캘리포니아주 리치몬드 물류센터에서 안전보건 위반 이력을 신고했다. 회사 측은 초기 규모를 확대하면서 운영상의 문제점이 원인이라고 설명했다.[13]

2017년 2월 뉴저지 린덴에 이행센터를 오픈한다고 발표했다.[14]

블루 에이프런은 2017년 6월 29일 미국 밀키트 기업으로는 처음으로 주당 10달러(약 1억 원)[5]에 해당하는 A등급 보통주(APRN) 3,000만 주를 공모했다.

상장 이후 월가는 블루 에이프런의 주가를 절반으로 내렸다. 2017년 10월까지 다음 실적 보고에 앞서 전사적 구조조정을 발표했으며, 직원 중 6%가 회사 사무실과 이행 센터 양쪽에서 해고됐으며, 이는 수백 개의 일자리로 추정된다.[15][16]

2017년 11월 30일, 블루 에이프런은 브래드 디커슨이 살츠버그의 CEO로 교체될 것이라고 발표했고, 살츠버그는 회장으로 남을 것이다.[17]

블루 에이프런은 2018년 3월 26일 기준 공모 이후 시장가치의 81.4%를 잃었다.[18]

블루 에이프런은 2018년 5월 캘리포니아주 코스트코 17개 지점에서 4인분 식사 키트를 판매하기 시작해 이 회사의 물리적 소매점[19] 진출을 기념했고, 전 아코스타 영업&마케팅 담당이었던 팀 벤슬리가 CFO로 입점했다.[20]

블루 에이프런은 2018년 8월 2일 2018년 2분기 전체 배달 결제 고객이 전분기 대비 24% 감소했으며, 총 주문량이 23% 감소했다고 밝혔다.[21]

2019년 4월 브래드 디커슨은 린다 핀들리 코즐로스키가 이 회사의 신임 CEO로 뒤를 이었다. 그러나 디커슨은 고문 자격으로 회사에 남아 있었다.[22]

2020년 11월, Alan Blake는 Charlean Gunder에 의해 새로운 COO로 계승되었다. 블레이크는 6월에 회사를 떠나 주전자 요리사의 운영을 이끌었다.[23]

환경영향

이 회사와 다른 밀키트 회사들은 개별적으로 포장된 재료에서 과도한 포장 폐기물을 만들어냈다는 비판을 받아왔다.[24] 블루 에이프런은 농약을 제한하고 농작물 순환을 통해 토양 건강을 증진하는 농장과 제휴해 회사의 특화 작물을 재배한다.[25]
