알로페 메티오스는 약 2200만년 전 케냐에 살았던 초기 서코피테코과 원숭이이다.그것은 턱 파편과 이빨로 알려져 있다.비록 유인원보다는 현대의 세르코피테쿠스(구세계 원숭이)와 더 가까운 관계였지만, 왕관 세르코피테쿠스류와 그들의 가장 가까운 친척인 두발톱니(bilophodont)[1] 어금니들이 공유하는 몇몇 특징들은 진화하지 않았다.
이 원숭이의 이름은 원래 알로피아 메티오스였지만, 알로피아속은 이미 나방에 의해 잡혀 알로페라는 새로운 이름을 갖게 되었다.[2]
