비무장 지대

Demilitarized zone

비무장지대(DMZ 또는 DZ[1])는 국가, 군사력 또는 경쟁 그룹 간의 조약 또는 협정이 군사 시설, 활동 또는 인력을 금지하는 영역입니다.DZ는 종종 두 개 이상의 군사 강국 또는 동맹 사이의 국경 또는 경계를 따라 놓여 있습니다.DZ는 때때로 한국의 비무장지대와 같은 사실상의 국경선을 형성할 수 있다.비무장지대의 다른 예로는 이라크와 쿠웨이트 사이의 9마일 넓이의 지역, 남극대륙, 그리고 우주공간이 있다.

몇몇 비무장지대들은 또한 의도치 않게 야생동물 보호구역이 되었다. 왜냐하면 그들의 땅이 건설하기에 안전하지 않거나 인간의 방해에 덜 노출되었기 때문이다.예로는 1954년 7월 21일부터 1976년 7월 2일까지 베트남을 두 나라(북베트남과 남베트남)로 나눈 한국 비무장지대, 키프로스 비무장지대(녹색선) 등이 있다.
