로터스 E21은[8] 2013년 대회 때 사용하기 위해 로터스 F1 팀이 설계하고 제작한 포뮬러 원 레이싱카다.[1]이 섀시는 제임스 앨리슨, 닉 체스터, 마틴 톨리데이, 더크 드 비어가 설계했으며 르노는 이 팀의 엔진을 공급했다.이 차는 2007년 세계 챔피언 키미 레이크외넨과 로맹 그로스장이 운전했는데,[6][7] 이들은 둘 다 2012년 경쟁 끝에 팀에 남아 있었다.E21은 2013년 시즌 최초로 출시된 자동차였다.[9]

디자인

E20 섀시의 "패시브 드래그 감소 시스템" 장치에서 팀이 경험했던 끊임없는 문제에도 불구하고 E21은 자체 개발한 수동 DRS 장치로 출시되었다.[10][11][12][13]

2012년 코 설계에 있어 눈에 보이는 단계 때문에 "미숙하다"고 경주한 자동차들에 대한 비난에 이어 2013년 기술 규정으로 팀들은 심미적인 목적을 위해 자동차의 코를 덮을 수 있도록 설계된 작은 탄소 섬유 조각인 "겸손 패널"을 사용할 수 있게 되었다.[14][15]그러나 E21은 공기역학적 이점이 없고, E21이 제공하는 미적 특성은 아무리 가벼운 체중 증가일지라도 가중치만큼 가치가 없다고 생각했기 때문에 겸손 패널 없이 출시되었다.[16]
