IPA는 검진, 구강, 타악기, 오수컬레이션의 4가지 핵심 단계를 가진 신체검사다.[1]
단계가 기관 시스템 전체에 걸쳐 일관되지만 순서는 다를 수 있다. 특히 복부검사의 경우 구개전술을 시행하는데, 구개전술은 구개전술의 경우 구개전술을 시행하면 구개전술이었던 것을 변화시킬 수 있기 때문이다.[2]
