APOA2는 고밀도 리포단백질 입자 중 두 번째로 풍부한 단백질인 아폴리포단백질 A-II, (ApoA-II)를 코드한다.그 단백질은 아폴리포단백질 D를 가진 단량체, 호모디머 또는 헤테로디머로 혈장에서 발견된다.이 유전자의 결함은 아폴리포단백질 A-II 결핍 또는 고콜레스테롤혈증을 [6]초래할 수 있다.
