분자생물학에서 U24는 C(UGUGAUGA)와 D(CUGA) 상자 모티브를 포함하는 snoRNA의 C/D 등급의 일원이다.[1]C/D 박스 snoRNA는 다수의 RNA 표적에서 메틸화 가이드 역할을 하는 것으로 나타났다.[2][3]U24는 포유류, 닭, 후구에 있는 리보솜 단백질 L7a 유전자의 인트론 안에 암호화되어 있다.[4]U76/SNORD76 snoRNA는 uRNA 호스트유전자(UHG) 성장억제유전자(GAS5) 유전자 인트론에서 발견된다. [5]snoRNAs Z20과 U76 snoRNAs는 U24와 명백한 유사성을 보인다.

22개의 서로 다른 비소세포 폐암 조직을 살펴본 실험 결과 SNORD33, SNORD66, SNORD76은 일치하는 비암성 폐조직에 비해 과도하게 발현된 것으로 나타났다.[6]
