모링가는 아프리카와 아시아의 일부가 원산지로, 꽃이 피는 식물과의 유일속이다. 이름은 을 뜻하는 타밀어무룽가이에서 유래했으며, 식물은 흔히 북을 치는 나무라고 부른다.[4] 그것은 작은 허브에서 거대한 나무에 이르는 크기의 열대성 기후와 아열대성 기후의 13종을 포함하고 있다. 모링가 종은 많은 종류의 환경에서 빠르게 자란다.

가장 널리 재배되는 종은 인도 북서부의 히말라야 산맥 기슭에 원산지를 둔 모링가 올레페라(Moringa oleifera)로,[5] 열대지방 전체에 걸쳐 재배되고 식이 보조제, 건강식품 또는 약초 실천의 원천으로 판매되고 있다.[6] 모링가올리페라("드럼스틱")의 과일 꼬투리는 세계 많은 지역에서 음식으로 소비되고 있지만, 특히 남아시아에서 소비되고 있다.[7] 은 흔히 차를 만드는 데 사용된다. 기름은 씨앗에서 만들어지는 반면, 가루들은 잎과 뿌리에서 만들어질 수 있다.

모링가는 작은 관목(M. Pygmaea)부터 큰 파치카울 나무(M. Ovalifolia)에 이르는 크기 때문에 가장 다양한 종류 중 하나로 여겨진다.[8]

과일

과일은 일반적으로 길쭉하고 가늘며 3가치의 "팟"이 외설적규율을 닮았다(진정한 탈색 규율과는 대조적으로).[9] M.올레리페라(드럼스틱)의 과일은 인도의 주요 농산물로 야채로 먹고 전통의학에 쓰인다.[9]

모링가브라시카과십자가형 채소에서 흔히 발견되는 "머스타드-오일 글리코사이드" 또는 글루코시놀레이트라고 불리는 유황 생화학적 화합물을 많이 함유하고 있다. 가족 특유의 글루코모링인, 글루코순즈네인과 함께 벤질 글루코시놀레이트(Benzyl glucosinolate)가 다양한 모링가 종에서 검출되어 일부 모링가 잎에서 쓴맛이 나는 원인으로 생각된다.[10][11]

분류학

상위구분

모링가속(Moringa)을 포함하는 모노타이픽 계열인 모링가과는 APG IV 시스템을 포함한 대부분의 현대 분류학 시스템에 따라 브라시컬스순서로 배치되었다.[12] 분자 데이터는 많은 사람들이 브라시칼레스 내 "카리카스과-모링과"를 식별하면서 모링과와 카리카스과의 밀접한 관계를 제시했다.[12][13] 분자 데이터가 이용되기 전에, 모링과(Moringae)의 형태학적 분류는 가족의 특이한 형태학적 다양성 때문에 브라시칼레스 또는 사핀달레스 중 하나에 가족을 두었다.[14]

속내 분류

모링가에는 널리 알려진 도날도니아, 모링가, 다이스모링가 등 세 개의 집단이 있다.[15] 한때 모링가의 하위 유전자로 생각되었던 도날드소니는 방사상으로 대칭되는 꽃으로 식별할 수 있는 비단조밀꽃으로 병나무 M. droouhardii, M. hildebrandtiii, M. alovalifolia, M. stenopetala를 함유하고 있다.[8] 모링가 쇄골은 불규칙한 꽃대칭, 영구화, 짧은 콘센트 등이 특징인 모링가속(M. longituba 제외)의 다른 모든 구성원을 포함하고 있다.[15] 다이즈모링가 쇄골은 긴 용기와 붉은 꽃으로 인해 일반적인 모링가 쇄골의 특징에서 벗어나는 M. 롱기투바 종을 포함하고 있다.[8] 모링가 구성원들 간의 정확한 계통적 관계는 분자 데이터가 증가하면서 계속 진화하고 있지만, 도날드소니아 층은 가족 내에서 가장 기초적인 층으로 일관되게 확인된다.[8]
