몰도바 여권은 국제 여행을 목적으로 몰도바 공화국 시민들에게 발급된다. 이 여권은 공공 서비스 기관인 "AGENENIA SERVICIII Publicice"와 몰도반 해외 대표들이 발행한다. 그 여권은 10년간 유효하다. 7세 미만 어린이의 경우 4년간 유효하다. 몰도반 시민들은 2006년 1월 1일부터 두 개의 여권을 동시에 소지할 수 있으며, 이는 지역 여권국에 서면 요청이 제출된 경우다.
최초의 몰도반 생체 인식 여권은 2006년 1월 1일에 발급되었다. 새로운 의무 Moldovan 생체인식 여권은 2011년 1월 1일부터 이용할 수 있으며 현재 850MDL (€39)의 비용이 든다.[3] 생체인식 데이터가 있는 몰도바 공화국의 여권에는 홀더의 혈액형, 디지털 지문, 홀더의 디지털 이미지 등 디지털 정보를 저장하는 칩이 들어 있다. 12세 미만 어린이의 경우 디지털 지문을 제출할 의무가 없다. 기존 비생물학적, 구형 생체여권은 유효기간이 만료될 때까지 유효하며 새로운 생체여권과 함께 여행에도 유효하다.
Physical appearance
The Moldovan passport has the Moldovan Coat of Arms emblazoned in the centre of the front cover. The most recently issued passports are burgundy in color, however previously issued ones are light blue in colour. The words "REPUBLICA MOLDOVA" are inscribed above the coat of arms and the word "PAȘAPORT" is inscribed below the coat of arms (both inscriptions in Romanian). The standard biometric symbol imprinted at the bottom of the cover page. The passport contains 32 pages.

Each passport has a data page. A data page has a visual zone and a machine-readable zone. The visual zone has a digitized photograph of the passport holder, data about the passport, and data about the passport holder:

• Nationality (which states Republic of Moldova as an opposed to the ethnic identity of a person)

• Holder’s Signature
Languages
The data page is printed in Romanian, English and French languages.
Visa free travel
Visa requirements for Moldovan citizens are administrative entry restrictions by the authorities of other states placed on citizens of Moldova. In 2016, Moldovan citizens had visa-free or visa on arrival access to 89 countries and territories, ranking the Moldovan passport 52nd in the world.[4]
