디메틸란닐린 모노옥시제나아제[N-산화지질 형성] 5는 인간에서 FMO5유전자에 의해 암호화된 효소다.[5][6][7]
다이어트에서 파생된 아미노트리메틸아민(TMA)의 대사 N-산소는 플라빈 함유 모노옥시제네아제에 의해 매개되며, 인간의 유전적 FMO3 다형성(Polymorphism)의 영향을 받아 TMA N-산화 용량이 감소되어 어류악증후군 트리메틸아미노리아를 유발한다.태아간에서 발견된 효소 FMO1과 성인간에서 발견된 FMO2, FMO3의 세 가지 형태가 1Q23-q25 지역에 군집화된 유전자에 의해 암호화된다.플라빈 함유 모노옥시제네스는 NADPH 의존성 플라보엔자임으로, 약물, 살충제, 이산화효소 등에서 연핵 이성질소 중추의 산화를 촉진한다.[7]
