In mathematics, the Cohen–Hewitt factorization theorem states that if ${\displaystyle V}$ is a left module over a Banach algebra ${\displaystyle B}$ with a left approximate unit ${\displaystyle (u_{i})_{i\in I}}$, then an element ${\displaystyle v}$ of ${\displaystyle V}$ can be factorized${\displaystyle {\displaystyle {제품}_{}}}$ $v{\displaystyle }$= ${\displaystyle b}$ ${\displaystyle w}$ ${\displaystyle v=bw}($${\displaystyle \mathrm{일부}}$ $b{\displaystyle }$ ${\displaystyle {\displaystyle \underset{}{\in }}}$ B ${\displaystyle b\in B}$ 및 $w$ ${\displaystyle \in }$ ${\displaystyle V}$ ${\displaystyle w\in V$에 대해 ${\displaystyle {\displaystyle {}_{}}}$= ${\displaystyle {\displaystyle v}}$ ${\$ I}$u_{iv=v$이 정리는 폴 코언(1959년)과 에드윈 휴이트(1964년)가 도입했다.
