Centromere 관련 단백질 E는 인간에서 CENPE 유전자에 의해 암호화된 단백질이다.[5][6]
Centromere 관련 단백질 E는 세포 주기의 G2 단계에 축적되는 키네신 유사 운동 단백질이다. 다른 센트롬 연계 단백질과 달리, 중간상에는 존재하지 않으며, 프로메타파아제 동안 염색체의 센트롬 영역에 먼저 나타난다. CENPE는 포유류 염색체 이동 및/또는 스핀들 연장을 담당하는 모터 중 하나로 제안되었다.[6]
임상적 유의성
CENPE의 돌연변이는 골격 이상과 면역결핍을 포함하는 자가 열성형 1차 소두종 13을 유발한다.[7]
