Simpsonodon은 영국, 키르기스스탄, 러시아의 쥐라기 중기에 알려진 멸종된 독돈류의 한 속이다.모식종 S. 옥스포덴시스는 영국의 포레스트 마블 층의 키틀링턴 포유동물 침대와 와튼 클리프에서 발견되었다.그것은 선구적인 포유동물학자이자 현대 진화 ^[1]합성에 기여한 조지 게일로드 심슨의 이름을 따서 붙여졌다.러시아의 ^[2]이타트 지층에서 두 번째 종인 S. sibiricus가 알려져 있으며, 키르기스스탄의^[3] 발라반사이 지층에서 미결정 종도 알려져 있다.
