방법론

인구조사는 1918년 통계법에 의해 구성된 도미니언 통계국에 의해 실시되었다. 인구조사 현장조사는 241명의 위원과 11,425명의 조사대상자가 연방선거구제와 투표구획에 밀접하게 대응하도록 구조된 인구조사지역 및 하위구역을 각각 담당했다.[2][3] 오타와에서 350명에 이르는 특별 직원이 기계식 표 계산법을 사용하여 인구 조사 결과를 집계했다.[3][4] 1955년, 인구계획표가 마이크로필름 된 후, 종이 인구조사계획표가 파괴되었다.[2]

출시 날짜 및 형식

통계법에 따라 1921년 인구조사 신고서는 캐나다 통계청이 보관하고 있었으며, 기록은 인구조사 실시 92년 이후까지 마감되었다.[6][7] 2013년에는 공공 사용을 위해 레코드가 공개되었고 캐나다 도서관 및 기록 보관소(LAC)로 이관되었다.[2][8] 2013년 7월 초 LAC 대변인은 이 데이터가 19만7529개의 이미지로 구성되어 있으며, "일단 조립되고 완전히 색인화되면 캐나다 족보 정보 중 가장 큰 온라인 기록이 될 것"이라고 조언했다.[9][10] 2013년 8월 8일, 인구 일정의 원시 디지털 이미지를 개인 Ancestry.ca 웹사이트에서 지역 및 하위 사이트 지리적 지수로 무료로 검색할 수 있도록 하였다.[11][12] 아마존닷컴은 2013년 말부터 개인 Ancestry.ca 가입자와 LAC에서 직접, 도서관에서 직접 고급 검색을 용이하게 하기 위해 데이터를 필사하고 색인화했다. 인구조사 데이터는 Ancestry.ca 웹사이트에서 이용 가능하게 된 후 3년 후에 LAC 웹사이트에서 이용할 수 있도록 예정되어 있었다.[13][14][15][16][17] 완전히 색인화된 온라인 인구조사 데이터는 Ancestry.ca에 의해 2013년 10월 29일에 개시되었다. 이 데이터는 무료로 검색할 수 있으며, Ancestry.ca 웹사이트에 등록될 수 있다.[18][19] 2017년 8월 30일, 1921년의 결과를 캐나다 도서관 및 자료실 웹사이트에서 이용할 수 있게 되었다.[20]
