영국 영화 연구소(British Film Institute, BFI)는 1933년 영국에 본부를 둔 자선 단체다.이 협회는 "영화 또는 TV 문화에 대한 탁월한 기여를 인정함"에서 개인에게 펠로우쉽 타이틀을 수여했으며, 이 협회가 수여하는 최고 영예로 평가된다.[1]영국 배우 존 허트는 이 상이 "가능한 최고의 영예"라고 말했다.[2]

88명의 펠로우 중 과반수(59)가 영국 출신으로, 주로 미국과 프랑스에서 온 29명의 외국인 수혜자가 있다.두 명의 아프리카 수상자가 있었는데, 두 명의 영화 감독인 말리안 술레이마네 시체와 세네갈의 오스만 젬벤과 일본, 인도, 이란, 캐나다, 호주에서 각각 한 명의 수상자가 왔다.
