아폴로 15호에서 출발한 브릭스 분화구

브릭스(Briggs)는 달 충돌 분화구로, 오셔너스 프로첼라룸의 서쪽에 있으며, 커다란 담이 있는 평원 슈트루브의 동쪽에 있다.성벽으로 둘러싸인 평야 에드딩턴의 북동쪽, 셀레우쿠스 분화구의 북북서쪽에 놓여 있다.달의 북서쪽 사지 근처에 있는 암말 위에 있는 이 분화구의 고립된 위치는 지구로 향하는 관찰자가 비교적 쉽게 찾을 수 있게 한다.이 분화구는 영국의 수학자 헨리 브릭스(Henry Brigggs)의 이름을 따서 지어졌다.

브릭스 외측 테두리는 북북동남쪽으로 외형적으로 불룩하여 상당히 원형적이지는 않다.분화구 바닥의 중간 지점에는 북쪽까지 뻗어 있는 중앙 능선이 있다.

관례에 따라 이러한 특징들은 브릭스에게 가장 가까운 분화구 중간 지점의 측면에 글자를 배치함으로써 달 지도에서 확인된다.
