뒤는 달의 동쪽 사지 근처에 위치한 작은 달 충돌 분화구다.마레 스미티(Mare Smythii)의 북서쪽 가장자리에 놓여 있으며, 북동쪽 가장자리는 슈베르트 분화구와 인접해 있다.서쪽으로는 젠킨스가 있고, 남서쪽으로는 위어스트라스-반블렉 크레이터 쌍이 있다.

뒷면은 거의 원형이며, 크게 마모되지 않은 좁고 끝이 뾰족한 외벽이 있다.비교적 작은 크기에도 불구하고, 백은 전형적인 더 큰 크레이터의 중심 봉우리를 가지고 있다.

백은 1976년에 IAU에 의해 공식적으로 명명되었다.[1]이전에는 슈베르트 B로 알려져 있었다.
