바에드는 달 충돌 분화구로, 달의 남서쪽 가까운 곳에 위치하고, 거대한 마레 오리엔탈레 충돌 분지의 남서쪽에 위치한다.이 분화구의 동쪽에 위치한 지역은 북쪽으로 280km 길이의 발리스 부바르드와 남쪽으로 160km 떨어진 좁은 발리스 바아데 사이의 접점을 이루고 있다.두 계곡은 충돌 분지에서 북쪽으로 뻗어 있다.

바아데의 외벽은 날카로운 날을 유지하고 있으며, 이후의 충격으로 인한 침식의 모습은 거의 보이지 않는다.테두리는 일반적으로 원형이며, 내벽의 테라싱이 있다.분화구 내부는 거칠고 불규칙하며, 일반적으로 그릇 모양의 외관으로 바닥이 선명하지 않다.내부 중간 지점에는 중앙 봉우리가 없고, 지표면을 표시하는 분화구가 없다.

이 분화구는 네타리아 시대의 630km 넓이의 충격 분지인 멘델-리드버그 분지 내에 있다.
